Anapolis is a PortFrom always, Anapolis has been a Dry Port. Now, more tan ever.During the XIX century it was a bonded warehouse of cattleman who, with their caravans, would cut the region bringing hand made and industrialized goods, taking, as a counter part, ore, cotton, corn and ox "on foot”.
From a bonded warehouse, Anapolis became, in a short time, a commercial logistics region, which supported since then, the economy of one of the most important parts of Brazil. During the decade of the 30’s the municipality definitely came in for this purpose, when it received the rails of the Iron Highway. The businesses multiplied, thus the growth of the villa following up which became a city. Immediately Anapolis helped on the construction of Goiania (decade of the 40’s) and of Brasilia (decade of the 60’s), respectively supplying workmanship and basic material.
After that Anapolis did not stop anymore. The big projects came up, like the companies that offer benefits and the transformation of the agricultural products. The big industries also arose with capital from other regions of the country. The federal government chose Anapolis to establish the Air Base. The Agro Industrial District – DAIA - came around. With DAIA a new progress burst and on such there was the happy idea of creating an Interior Customs Station.
So then Midwest Dry Port S/A was born which divided the import and export trade commerce of the Middle of Brazil at the most different levels, in two stages: before and after its implantation.
Today, Goias has the most modern Interior Brazilian Dry Port, enabling this way the intelligent distribution and redistribution of goods and services, merchandise and other components of the modern economy. It is a new reality. Through Midwest Dry Port a new economy frontier emerged for Brazil, allowing the municipality of Anapolis to enter directly in to the global economy, as well as the regional and national levels, as it is on the international scale.
Dry Port is the central core of the entrance and exit of small, medium and high tons that depart from the Middle of Brazil searching for the most various markets possible, as well as it allows the inverse way, receiving from other units of the Federation and other points of the world, the necessary goods for the growth of the Midwest.
Economy Vocation The existence of large cattle, coffee and rice farms, did not stop that Anapolis, from the beginning, would follow its vocation as a commercial and industrial center. In less than two decades after its foundation, the city was already being supported through an honest and active commerce, supplying the markets of several cities of its influence region. The opening of important highways, such as the one from Belem-Brasilia in the decade of the 60’s, such also gave Anapolis a bigger status because beyond the commerce, it was possible to settle the industry directly influencing the North of the State and of the country.
The first great lead was, undoubtedly, the benefit of the cereals. Afterwards the ceramic industry came around, supplying bricks, shingles and like wise for the constructions of Goiania and Brasilia, besides the cities of the once called Middle North of Goias and of states like Maranhao, Para, Mato Grosso and part of Minas Gerais.
The technology arrived right after, with the implantation of large companies and, much more still, like the emerging of the Agro Industrial District, DAIA. The commerce grew together and Anapolis turned out to be a major bulk distribution center with all kinds of merchandises. Such is a situation that still prevails until today.
Industrial Potential The industrialization was another essential aspect for Anapolis to become the most important city of the interior of the State. DAIA began to receive great developments, sheltering thousands of workers on different capacity levels. Fundamental segments are highlighted such as beverages, water bottling, pharmaceutical industry, refrigerated goods, confection, dairies, crushing and soybean improvement and a series of other industries.
Completing that cycle, Anapolis became a logistics center, attracting the large import and export businesses of a vast region from Goias. It is then that the history of Midwest Dry Port comes in.
Dry Port is, undoubtedly, the anchor that was missing to give Goias the legitimacy of an industrial and producer State and with qualification to dispute the national and international market. So much that, it is the embryo of the most audacious logistics Project of the interior of Brazil: the Multimodal Logistics Platform, which is not more or less than a large version of Dry Port.
The PortThrough this systematic is that it settles, with conviction, that the Municipality of Anapolis is already the most important of all Midwest region as far as logistics goes. The railway-highway-airway tripod is a reality that it already began to change the economic face of Goias. And it will change even more. Within a simple vision, it can be said that any person or company of the Midwest, has conditions of buying or selling various merchandises and goods, in Brazil and overseas, with all the customs clearance work being operated in Anapolis. Before, such work was done in far away regions, which overtax the transactions a lot. Midwest Dry Port came to simplify all this.
